Privacy Policy

Cashero respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — written in plain language rather than legal jargon.

Effective date: January 1, 2026

Introduction

At Cashero, we believe that clear information and respect for your privacy go hand in hand. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit cashero.ca (the “Website”), how we use that information, when it may be shared, and what rights you have over it.

By using the Website, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Website.

A quick reminder: Cashero is an independent comparison platform — not a direct lender. When you request a loan comparison, certain information may be shared with third-party lenders only when necessary to fulfil that request. This is explained in more detail below.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information we genuinely need to operate the Website and help you compare short-term loan options. The types of information we may collect fall into three categories:

Personal information

Provided directly by you when filling in a form or contacting us:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Postal code or province of residence
Financial-related information

Provided through our comparison forms to help match you with suitable loan options:

  • Desired loan amount
  • Income range
  • Employment status

We never ask for your online banking password, full bank account number, or government identification at this stage.

Technical information

Collected automatically when you visit the Website, for analytics and security:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages visited and time spent
  • Cookies and analytics data

You can choose not to provide certain information — for example, by browsing anonymously without submitting a form. However, some Website features (such as a personalized loan comparison or support reply) may not work properly without it.

How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used for clear, limited purposes tied to running Cashero. Specifically, we may use it to:

  • Help you compare payday loans and short-term loan options on the Website, based on the details you provide.
  • Connect you with third-party lenders or lending partners when you ask us to — for example, by clicking through to a specific lender’s application.
  • Respond to inquiries and customer support requests that you send to us.
  • Improve Website content, performance, and user experience by understanding how visitors navigate our pages.
  • Send updates, newsletters, or marketing emails, but only if you’ve opted in to receive them.
  • Prevent fraud, misuse, or unauthorized activity, including detecting abnormal patterns that may suggest abuse.

We do not use your information for purposes unrelated to these goals, and we do not use financial-related information for advertising profiling.

4

Sharing Information with Third Parties

Because Cashero is a comparison platform, some sharing is necessary to help you find and reach a lender. We handle this carefully and keep it limited. Information may be shared with:

  • Third-party lenders and lending partners — when you request a loan comparison or click through to apply, relevant details may be passed to the lender so they can process your request.
  • Service providers — such as email hosting, customer support tools, and secure data storage providers who help us operate the Website.
  • Analytics providers — such as website analytics tools that help us understand traffic patterns and improve the experience.
  • Business partners — limited to parties directly involved in delivering the service you’ve asked for.
What we don’t do: We do not sell your personal information to unrelated third parties. We also don’t share information with lenders except when it’s needed to deliver the comparison or application you’ve asked for.

Third-party lenders and partners have their own privacy policies, which govern how they handle your information after it’s shared. Before applying for a loan, please review the lender’s own privacy policy and loan agreement carefully — their practices may differ from ours.

We may also disclose information where required by Canadian law, by a court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Cashero, our users, or the public.

5

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Like most websites, Cashero uses cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies to improve the Website and understand how it’s used. Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help websites remember certain information between visits.

What we use them for

  • Remembering your preferences (such as your province) so you don’t have to re-enter them.
  • Understanding website traffic patterns — which pages are most read, where people come from, and how long they stay.
  • Measuring the performance of our content to help us improve it.
  • Keeping the Website secure by detecting unusual activity.

Your choices

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies, clear browsing data, or switch to a private-browsing mode. Please note that some Website features may not function properly if cookies are disabled — for example, the loan calculator may not remember your inputs between pages.

6

Email Communications

If you provide us with your email address, you may receive messages related to:

  • Loan comparisons you’ve requested through the Website.
  • Account or service updates — for example, notices about changes to our Terms or Privacy Policy.
  • Educational content about payday loans, short-term loan options, and responsible borrowing.
  • Marketing communications, such as newsletters or promotional emails — but only if you’ve chosen to receive them.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any marketing email, or by contacting us directly. Transactional messages (such as responses to a support inquiry) may continue, as these are necessary to provide the service you’ve requested.

7

Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, and misuse. Our safeguards include:

  • Secure website connections — all data transmitted to and from the Website is encrypted using industry-standard TLS/SSL.
  • Restricted access — only team members with a legitimate reason to handle your information can access it, and access is logged and reviewed.
  • Data protection practices — including secure storage, regular review of our processes, and prompt response to any identified risks.
Please note: While we take our responsibilities seriously, no method of transmitting or storing data online is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us immediately.
8

Retention of Information

We keep personal information only for as long as we reasonably need it. The length of time varies depending on why the information was collected, but in general we retain it to:

  • Provide the service you’ve requested, including ongoing loan comparisons or support.
  • Meet legal, regulatory, tax, or accounting obligations under applicable Canadian law.
  • Resolve disputes, enforce our Terms of Service, or protect legal rights.
  • Improve the Website and our internal processes based on anonymized or aggregated data.

When information is no longer needed for any of these purposes, we take steps to delete or anonymize it securely. You can also request deletion directly at any time, as explained in the next section.

9

Your Rights and Choices

You have several rights regarding your personal information under Canadian privacy law. Subject to reasonable verification, you may:

Request access Ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
Request corrections Ask us to update any information that is inaccurate or out of date.
Request deletion Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
Withdraw consent Opt out of marketing communications or withdraw other consents at any time.

To make any of these requests, please email us at privacy@cashero.ca or use the Contact Us page. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe as required by Canadian law.

10

Children’s Privacy

Cashero is intended only for users who are at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in their province of residence, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or minors.

If you believe that a child has submitted personal information to the Website, please contact us right away at privacy@cashero.ca. We will take prompt steps to delete the information from our records.

11

Third-Party Websites

Cashero may include links to third-party lender websites or other external resources. These links are offered for your convenience, but the sites they lead to operate under their own rules.

Cashero is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. When you leave Cashero through a link, you are no longer covered by this Privacy Policy. Before submitting any personal information on a third-party site — including a lender’s loan application — please review that website’s own privacy policy and terms carefully.

12

Province-Specific and Canadian Privacy Laws

Cashero follows applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where relevant, substantially similar provincial privacy legislation such as Quebec’s Law 25, Alberta’s PIPA, and British Columbia’s PIPA.

Privacy rights may vary slightly by province. Users in some provinces may have additional rights — for example, enhanced rights to know when your information is used for automated decision-making, or to request a portable copy of your data. To learn what applies in your province, you can contact your provincial privacy commissioner or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

If you have a concern about how we handle your information and have not been able to resolve it with us directly, you have the right to file a complaint with the appropriate privacy authority.

13

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we offer, or applicable laws. When we do, the updated version will be posted on the Website with a revised “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

For material changes, we will take reasonable steps to make the update visible — for example, a notice on the homepage or an email to users who have subscribed to updates. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
